Summary

Matt’s previous employment as a Business Development Manager for TriMark R.W. Smith which is the largest foodservice equipment and supplies distributor in the nation; he has been working in the territory sales & distribution division for the last 11 years. Matt graduated from San Diego State University in 2004 with a marketing degree, and after traveling abroad upon completing his education, resumed working for a premier valet company as an on-site manager of operations and customer liaison, he worked for them throughout his academic years and afterwards for 6 years total before assuming his career responsibilities with R.W. Smith.

Background

Matt brings a wealth of experience in customer relations and brings a strong sense of business acumen to HDG. Throughout his time at R.W. Smith he portrayed resilience and a “never give up” attitude even when times were tough, he was a 100% commission sales rep throughout the Great Recession of 2008 and came out of it with a much stronger customer base than before which has propelled him from a starting territory value of $300,000 to well over the $1,000,000 mark in sales volume in 2017. He has provided exemplary service which sets him apart from his competition during good times and bad. He regularly managed large equipment and supply projects in the form of new restaurants, hotels, country clubs, senior living centers, wineries etc. and also renovations of existing accounts and establishments. He was involved in these projects starting from concept design and construction thru the grand opening and ongoing day to day business. He uses his strong relationships with suppliers and customers alike to achieve the highest profit margin possible; it is common for Matt to present a proposal that is undercut by the competition in price and is still able to secure the business thanks to exceptional service and creative packages and proposals. He is constantly faced with strict deadlines and must use quick thinking and creative problem solving to accommodate his customer’s unreasonable ever-demanding needs.‍
